The Indestructible Bamboo Plant / El bambú indestructible
Quiero anunciar que mi bambú "indestructible" está muerto. ¿Por qué será? No fue mi intención matarlo, pero a veces mis intenciones no bien informadas resultan en la muerte de mis plantas.
Puede ser porque...
...le quité todas las hojas? (Algunas estaban un poco secas así que pensé que quitárselas todas le daría más vigor al bambú.)
...le corté los tallitos que estaban creciendo del tallo central para tener "más plantas de bambú"? Sin embargo, no crecieron.
...el agua salía del tiesto por todos los rotitos que hice?
...me desanimé al ver que el agua no se quedaba adentro y dejé de darle agua al bambú?
Por lo menos, mi "spider plant" sigue vivo aunque, de veras, no soy buena en recordar a darle agua.

Could it be because...
...I took all its leaves off? Some of them were a little dry, so I thought that taking them off would give more life to the plant.
...I cut off all the little stems growing from the center stalk in order to have "more bamboo plants"? They didn't grow.
...the water kept running out of the pot through all the little holes I made?
...I got discouraged because the water didn't stay inside the pot and stopped watering the bamboo?
At least my spider plant is still alive although I am truly not very good at remembering to give it water.

A's Birthday/El cumpleaños de A
El lunes pasado aprovechamos que A estaba aqui para celebrar su cumpleaños 21. Fue una celebración muy linda y entre familia. Cenamos una comida china (lo que A quería), comimos un bizcocho de mantecado, y A abrió sus regalos. Sé que miras este blog, así que, ¡te quiero mucho, A!
On Monday we took advantage of the fact that A was in town to celebrate her 21st birthday. It was a very nice family party. We ate Chinese food (A's request), had ice cream cake, and A opened her gifts. I know that you look at this blog, so, I love you, A!
The Hamster Is Gone!/¡El hámster se fue!
Gracias a Dios, el hámster ya tiene un nuevo hogar. Ayer puse un anuncio en Craigslist y hoy vinieron una mamá y su hija para recogerlo. Me siento tan libre sin el hámster.
I'm so thankful that the hamster now has a new home. Yesterday I put an ad on Craigslist, and today and mom and her daughter came to pick him up. I feel so free, not having the hamster.

More of Winter/Más del invierno
Sí, me asombro de la creación de Dios. El invierno, aunque frío, es bello. Seguimos con hielo y nieve aquí, pero este fin de semana el sol está empezando a derretir el superficie de la nieve.
El lunes pasado pasé una aventura con mi carro. Tuvimos una tormenta de hielo, y se congeló el abanico para el calentador en mi carro. No pude salir del estacionamento porque no pude descongelar mis ventanas para ver la calle. Gracias a Dios, no tenía que entrar al trabajo hasta el mediodía, y hoy, después de algunos días de sol, el abanico volvió a funcionar.
Yes, I am amazed by God's creation. The winter, though cold, is beautiful. We continue to have ice and snow here, but this weekend the sun is starting to melt the surface of the snow.
Last Monday I had an adventure with my car. We had an ice storm, and the heater fan froze. I couldn't leave the driveway because I couldn't defrost the windows to see the road. Thankfully, I didn't have to go to work that day until noon, and today, after a few days of sunshine, the fan is working again.
G's Baby Shower
Este sábado tuvimos el "baby shower" de G. Gracias a Dios, nuestra hermana A pudo llegar para sorprender a G. Decoramos la casa como una finca, y yo me vestí de granjera. Durante la fiesta, jugamos juegos, tres primas compartieron, comimos, y G abrió sus regalos. Una primita IJ "ayudó" a G a abrirlos. :-)
This Saturday we had G's baby shower. Thank the Lord, our sister A was able to come as a surprise for G. We decorated the house like a farm, and I dressed up as a farmer. During the party, we played games, three cousins shared, we ate, and G opened her gifts. One little cousin, IJ, "helped" G open them. :-)

Foster Home/Hogar Sustituto
Ayer, mi apartamento se convirtió en un hogar sustituto...
...para un hámster. :-)
Una señora de la iglesia estaba tratando de encontrar un nuevo hogar para el, y mi papá lo trajo a casa. Me pidió que lo cuidara, así que lo estoy cuidando temporeramente hasta encontrar otro lugar para el.
Tengo que decir que es el hámster más amigable que he visto. Es bastante activo, le gusta estar en su balón y correr en su rueda. Creo que sería una muy buena mascota para alguien que quiera tener un hámster.
El hámster vino con el nombre "Poof," pero yo decidí a llamarle (en lo que lo tenga) "Dallas Houston Poof" porque su última dueña era de Texas.
Yesterday my apartment became a foster home...
...for a hamster. :-)
A lady from church was trying to find a new home for him, and my dad brought him home. He asked me to take care of him, so I am caring for the hamster temporarily until I can find another place for him.
I must say that he is the friendliest, nicest hamster I've met. He is quite active and enjoys rolling in his ball and running on his wheel. I think that he would be a great pet for someone who wants a hamster.
The hamster came with the name "Poof," but I decided to call him (for as long as I have him) "Dallas Houston Poof" because his former owner was from Texas.
