Lily's Bee Sting/La picadura de abeja de Lily

La llevé afuera en su harnés y le picó la pata una abejita. Lily lloró, lo que por poco me hizo llorar a mí. Mi pobrecita. :-( Espero que ya no trate de coger más abejas.

I took her outside in her harness, and a honeybee stung her on the paw. Lily cried, which nearly made me cry as well. My poor little baby. :-( I hope she doesn´t try to catch any more bees.

Playtime with Lily/Hora de jugar con Lily

Lily ya tiene doce semanas y sigue siendo una gatita preciosa y juguetona. Esta semana, como hacía tanto calor, mi papá decidió a meterle hielo en su agua. Lily pasó varios minutos mirándolo, tocándolo y tratando de averiguar lo que era esa cosa extraña allí. También, a Lily le gusta correr por un tubo grande de cartón que encontramos afuera. A veces tiramos una pelotita o un juguete pequeño dentro del tubo para que ella lo coja. En la última foto, Lily tiene un peluche de perrito. Lily pelea y juega con el perrito como si fuera otro gatito y lo carga como si fuera su presa.

Lily is already twelve weeks old and is still a very precious, playful kitten. This week, since it was so hot, my dad decided to put an ice cube in her water dish. She spent several minutes looking at the ice, touching the ice, and trying to figure out what in the world that strange thing was! Lily also likes to run through a giant cardboard tube that we found outside. Sometimes we throw a little ball or toy into the tube for her to catch. In the last photo, Lily has a stuffed puppy. Lily fights and plays with the puppy as if he were a kitten and carries him as if he were her prey.

Hoy Lily tuvo otra cita veterinaria. Está muy bien. Pesa 3.1 libras y tuvo dos vacunas hoy--una contra la rabia y otra contra la panleukopenia. Se portó muy bien para la doctora a pesar de que había un perro grandote en la sala de espera.

Today Lily went to the vet again. She´s doing very well. She weighs 3.1 pounds and had two vaccines today--one for rabies and another for feline distemper. She behaved very well for the vet even though there was a huge dog in the waiting room!

My Bonnie lies over the ocean...

Esta semana he recibido dos bendiciones grandes de Dios. Primero, el domingo mi papá me dijo que alguien de la iglesia necesitaba vender su carro. Lo miramos el día siguiente y nos gustó. Estoy muy agradecida porque en el momento que yo necesitaba un carro, Dios proveyó. El carro es mayor, pero está en buenas condiciones y fue muy bien mantenido. Es un Pontiac Bonneville. Le digo "Bonnie" de apodo porque me acuerda de una canción en inglés, "My Bonnie lies over the ocean".

This week God has given me two big blessings. First, on Sunday my dad told me that someone from church needed to sell his car. We looked it the next day, and we liked it. I'm very thankful because just the moment I needed a car, God provided. The car is older but in good condition, and it was very well maintained. It´s a Pontiac Bonneville. I call it "Bonnie" as a nickname because it reminds me of the song, "My Bonnie lies over the ocean."

La segunda gran bendición fue que hoy me llamaron de la oficina de oftamología para ofrecerme el trabajo de "ophthalmic technician". ¡Gracias, Señor! Quieren que yo empiece el lunes, y ya tengo tarea de leer sobre ciertas condiciones médicas del ojo. Será muy interesante trabajar allí y también una buenísima oportunidad. No todas las oficinas médicas están dispuestas a entrenar a una persona así.

The second great blessing was that today I received a phone call from the ophthalmology office to offer me the position of ophthalmic technician. Thank you, Lord! They want me to start on Monday, and I already have homework--to read about certain medical conditions of the eye. It will be incredibly interesting to work there and also a tremendous opportunity. Not every medical office is willing to train people like that, from scratch.

Baking Day/Día para hornear

Este domingo mi familia va a llevar la merienda a la iglesia. Ya que este domingo es el 4 de julio, G quería llevar algo americano--pastel (pay) de manzana. Ella hizo seis pasteles y yo vine a ayudarla. Nos divertimos juntas y pudimos lograr bastante.

This Sunday my family is going to take snack to church. Since this Sunday is July 4, G wanted to take something American--apple pies. She made six pies, and I came to help her. We had so much fun together and were able to get a lot done.

Después de pelar todas las manzanas, les dimos la piel a las vacas, que las disfrutaron y devoraron en cantidad. :-)

After peeling all the apples, we gave the skins to the cows who greatly enjoyed and quickly devoured them. :-)

Cuando metimos los últimos pasteles en el horno, G me llevó al campo de heno donde jugamos en las pacas de heno. ¡Ay, divertido es pasar el día en el campo!

When we put the last pies in the oven, G took me to the hayfield where we played on the hay bales. Oh, it's so much fun to spend a day in the country!

Purple and Black/Violeta y Negro

Gracias por orar por la entrevista. Me fue muy bien. Creo que la entrevistadora y yo nos llevamos muy bien. No tengo el trabajo todavía, pero sí ella quiere que yo vuelva a hablar con uno de los oftamólogos el martes que viene. ¡Me parece bueno!

Thank you for praying for the interview. It went very well. I think that the interviewer and I got along really well. I don't have the job yet, but she does want me to come back next week to meet with one of the ophthamologists. It sounds good to me!

En cuanto al título de este "post", yo me había puesto una blusa violeta y unos pantalones negros para ir a la entrevista. Cuando llegúe a la oficina, me dí cuenta de que todo el personal tenía los mismos colores puestos. No sabía que los colores de la oficina eran violeta y negro cuando me vestí ayer por la mañana. Le di gracias a Dios por esa "casualidad". :-) La entrevistadora y yo nos reímos de que me había puesto esos colores.

About the title of this post...I had put on a purple blouse and some black pants to go to the interview. When I arrived at the office, I realized that all the staff was wearing the same colores. I had no idea that the office colors were purple and black when I got dressed yesterday morning. I thanked God for this "coincidence". :-) The interviewer and I got a good laugh out of the fact that I was wearing those colors.
