Another Interview/Otra entrevista

Hoy recibí una llamada de la oficina de unos oftamólogos. Había solicitado ser técnica oftálmica en esa oficina. Me dijeron por teléfono que aunque no tengo experiencia, me pueden entrenar. Tengo una entrevista este jueves a las 11:00 de la mañana. Estoy muy emocionada. Por favor, oren.

Today I received a phone call from an ophthamology office. I had applied for the position of ophthalmic technician. They told me over the phone that, even though I don´t have experience, they would train me. I have an interview this Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and am very excited. Please pray.

Lily - 10 weeks/semanas

¡Tiene una plaquita de identificación nueva! Ahora si jamás se escapa de la casa, los vecinos sabrán que es una mascota muy querida de alguien. También le compré un arnés y una correa para poder llevarla afuera al patio y dejarla explorar. Sé que le va a gustar salir. :-) Fue muy gracioso ver su reacción cuando le puse el arnés por primera vez.

She has a new ID tag! Now if she ever escapes from the house, the neighbors will that she is someone´s very special pet. I also bought her a harness and leash so that I can take her outside in the backyard and let her explore. I know she's going to like it. :-) It was very funny to see her reaction to wearing the harness for the first time.

Regarding My Prayer Requests.../ Con respecto a mis peticiones de oración...

Gracias por las oraciones por mi papá. Él tuvo bronquitis, pero ya se está recuperando. Gracias también por orar por mi entrevista. Me dijeron que me iban a dejar saber para el fin de esta semana. Hasta ahora no he escuchado nada, pero mañana tengo unos exámenes para otro trabajo. Apreciaría sus oraciones.

Thank you for praying for my dad. He had bronchitis but now is recovering well. Thank you also for praying for my interview. They told me that they were going to let me know by the end of this week. I haven't yet heard anything, but tomorrow I have a civil service test for another job. I would appreciate your prayers.

Lily - 9 weeks/semanas

A's Visit/ La visita de A

El fin de semana pasado, A vino a visitar. Celebramos mi cumpleaños, el aniversario de mis papás y el día de los padres. También, A y yo fuimos a casa de G para almorzar juntas como hermanas.

Last weekend, A came for a visit. We celebrated my birthday, my parents' anniversary, and Father's Day. A and I also went to G's house to have a "sister lunch" together.

Strawberries/ Fresas

Mi hermana G y yo fuimos a recoger fresas por primera vez. Nos divertimos mucho. Es un poco tarde en la temporada, así que las fresas eran pequeñas, pero todavía fue una buena aventura. Espero que podamos ir otra vez el año que viene. G y yo congelamos las fresas para usarlas en recetas.

My sister G and I went strawberry picking for the first time. We had a lot of fun. It is a little late in the season, so the strawberries were small, but it was still a great adventure! I hope that we can go back next year. G and I froze the strawberries to use them in recipes.

God Answers Prayer/ Dios contesta las oraciones

Recibí unas buenas noticias. ¡Me llamaron del trabajo para planear una entrevista! Si Dios quiere, me entrevistan el martes 22 a la 1:00 de la tarde.

Por favor, sigan orando por mi papá y por la familia de mi amiga.


I just got some good news. They called me to set up an interview! Lord willing, I´ll have the interview on Tuesday, the 22nd at 1:00 p.m.

Please continue to pray for my dad and for my friend´s family.

Prayer Requests/ Peticiones de oración

Anoche me enteré de que un hermano de una amiga cercana mía murió trágicamente el lunes. Por favor, oren por la familia que están viajando de Sudamérica y otras partes a Canadá para el funeral. La familia está muy adolorida.

También quisiera pedir oración por mi búsqueda de trabajo. Estoy esperando escuchar de un empleo solicitado para saber si me quieren entrevistar esta semana que viene. Hoy fui a su oficina para tomar unos exámenes de gramática y mecanografía. También tengo un examen para otro trabajo que solicité el sábado 26 de junio. Apreciaría mucho sus oraciones.

Finalmente, quisiera pedir oración por mi papá que está algo enfermo. Acaba de empezar un nuevo trabajo y no le gusta tener que faltar ya.

Last night I learned that a brother of one of my close friends died tragically on Monday. Please pray for the family. They´re all traveling from South America and other places to Canada for the funeral. The family is really grieving.

I´d also like to request prayer for my job search. I´m waiting to hear back from a job I applied for to see if they want to interview me next week. Today I went to their office and took some grammar and typing tests. I also have a test for another job on Saturday, June 26.

Finally, I´d like to ask for prayer for my dad, who is a little sick. He just started a new job and doesn´t like to have to miss work already.

Puerto Rican Farewell/ Una despedida puertorriqueña

El último domingo que estuve en Puerto Rico, los queridos hermanos de la iglesia me dieron una despedida. Canté por última vez con el grupo de alabanza. Los ancianos y el pastor oraron por mí y una amiga hizo un pantomima linda. Casi lloré cuando oraron por mí. Esos dos años en Puerto Rico eran unos de los mejores años de mi vida. Conocí a mucha gente querida, y Dios me dio muchas oportunidades de crecer y servir en la iglesia.

Entonces, por la tarde, algunos hermanos abrieron su casa para tener una fiesta de despedida. Comimos y jugamos juegos en grupos. A mí me hicieron muchas preguntas acerca de Puerto Rico.

The last Sunday that I was in Puerto Rico, my church family gave me a farewell. I sang one last time with the praise team, the elders and the pastor prayed for me, and a friend performed a mime. I almost cried when they prayed for me. Those two years in Puerto Rico were some of the best years of my life. I met a lot of dear people, and God gave me many opportunities to grow and serve in the church.

Then, in the afternoon, a church family opened their home for a farewell party. We ate and played group games. They asked me a lot of trivia about Puerto Rico.

Another Weekend, Another Year/ Otro fin de semana, otro ano

El sábado 12 fue mi cumpleaños (aunque vamos a celebrarlo oficialmente este fin de semana cuando venga a visitar mi hermana A). Fue un día muy divertido. Por la mañana, ayudamos a repartir varias invitaciones a la conferencia que va a haber en la iglesia la semana que viene. Entonces, por la tarde, asistimos a una fiesta de graduación de mi primo T. La casa de mi primo queda algo en el campo. De hecho guiamos por cinco millas en tierra y piedra. ¡Qué aventura! Cuando llegamos a la calle donde vive T, vi al lado esta casa enorme y bella que me pareció una casa de las haciendas grandes del sur. Me encantó.

Saturday the 12th was my birthday (although we plan to officially celebrate it this weekend when my sister A comes). It was a very fun day. In the morning, we helped to hand out invitations to the church conference next week. Then, in the afternoon, we attended my cousin T's graduation party. My cousin's house is sort of in the country. In fact, we drove through five miles of dirt and stone road! What an adventure! When we arrived at the street where T lives, I saw this beautiful house next to it. It looked like one of those southern plantation houses. I loved it.

Hoy, el domingo, G y L trajeron el almuerzo. Digo que trajeron una parrilla (regalo para mis papás) y prepararon las hamburguesas y los hotdogs. Pasamos una tarde linda con ellos, comiendo y jugando cartas.

Today, Sunday, G and L brought lunch over. Rather, I should say that they brought a grill (gift for my parents) and prepared hamburgers and hotdogs. We spent a lovely afternoon with them, eating and playing cards.

Seeing Spots/ Manchitas

A Lily le gusta sentarse encima de mi papá. Ella es muy amigable con todo el mundo, y ellos dos se llevan muy bien. Una cosa única de Lily es su pelo. En realidad se ve más gris que aquí en la foto, pero tiene muchas manchitas redondas como las de leopardo. También, en su carita y sus piernas y su cola tiene rayas como las de tigre. Espero que las manchas se definan aún más en lo que crezca.

Lily loves my dad--especially taking a nap on top of him. She's sociable with everyone, and those two get along really well. One unique thing about Lily is her fur. In reality, it´s more grey than it looks in the picture, but it does have small black spots. She also has tiger stripes on her face and legs and tail. I hope the spots become even clearer as she grows.

G's Desserts/ Los Postres de G

G y L (mi hermana y mi cuñado) nos visitaron el sábado pasado. G había cogido una clase de repostería en casa de una hermana de la iglesia y trajo sus creaciones--un bizcocho de vainilla y limón y un pay (pastel) de fresa y ruibarbo.

G and L (my sister and my brother-in-law) visited us last Saturday. G had taken a baking class at the home of one of the ladies from church, and she brought her creations--a vanilla and lemon cake and a strawberry-rhubarb pie.

Meet Lily/ Les presento a Lily

¡La gatita vino a vivir conmigo hoy! Se llama Lily. Lily tuvo que despedirse hoy de su hermana gatita y de sus "papás" (mi hermana G y su esposo). Les saqué un retrato a la familia antes que L y G dejaron a Lily conmigo. Se está acostumbrando a la nueva casa y yo me estoy acostumbrando a velarla. ¡Es muy rápida y aventurera!

The kitten came to live with me today! Her name is Lily. Lily had to say goodbye today to her kitty sister and to her "parents" (my sister G and her husband). I took a family picture before G and L had to leave Lily with me. She's getting used to the new house, and I'm getting used to watching her. She's very fast and adventurous!
