Lily Turns One/ Lily cumple un añito

Hace un año dos gatitas nació en una estructura pequeña detrás de la casa de los suegros de G. Eran Lily y su hermana Cinnamon (que vive con unos primitos míos). Ayer el 17 de abril fue su cumpleaños. Es un día estimado ya que no sabemos exactamente cuando nació. Desafortunadamente (para Lily) tuvo que pasar su día de cumpleaños encerrada en un cuarto porque yo tenía que pintar, pero hoy se lo celebramos.

One year ago two kittens were born in a small structure behind G's in-laws' house. They were Lily and her sister Cinnamon (who lives with some of my young cousins). Yesterday, April 17, was her birthday. It's an estimated date because we really don't know when she was born. Unfortunately (for Lily) she had to spend her birthday locked inside one of my bedrooms because I had to paint, but today we celebrated her birthday.

Su celebración fue muy sencilla. Le di el agua de una lata de atún que se tomó en seguida y con ganas. Además le regalé un ratoncito de color rosita que es un juguete "laser". Lo compré por sólo $1.17, y creo que fue muy buena compra. A Lily le encanta tratar de coger la luz, y es divertido mirarla correr, brincar, y dar vueltas. También, yo podría mencionar que la semana pasada mi papá le instaló una puertita en la puerta grande del closet de la cocina. Ahora puedo mantener cerrada la puerta y Lily puede entrar y salir para comer y usar su bandeja. ¡Gracias otra vez, papá!

Her celebration was very simple. I gave her the juice out of a can of tuna, which she quickly and eagerly devoured. In addition, I gave her a pink mouse, which is a laser toy. I bought it for only $1.17, and I think it was a very good purchase. Lily loves trying to catch the light, and it is fun to watch her run, jump, and spin around. Also, I could mention that last week my dad installed a little door for her in the big door to the kitchen closet. Now I can keep that door closed, and Lily can go in and out to eat and to use her litter tray. Thanks again, Dad!

The Painted Room/ El cuarto pintado

Éste es mi cuarto principal que sirve de sala, comedor y cocina. Hace tiempo que quería pintarlo, especialmente ahora que viene a comer un grupo de damas de la iglesia el lunes que viene. El color de la pintura se llama "Sereno"--un azul clarito. Es como, yo pienso, se viera un cisne si fuera azul. Me gusta mucho. Agrandezca el cuarto y da un ambiente muy cómodo. Gracias, Señor, por este apartamento tan cómodo dónde vivir.

Le saqué una foto al techo de madera también para que lo vieran. Esta clase de techo no se ve mucho, y me gusta. (¡No hay que pintarlo!)

This is my main room, which serves as my living room, dining room, and kitchen. I've wanted to paint it for a while, especially now that a group of ladies from church will coming for dinner next Monday. The color of the paint is called "Serene"--a very light blue. It is the color, I think, a swan might look like if it were blue. I like the color a lot. It makes the room look bigger and gives a comfortable atmosphere. Thank you, Lord, for a comfortable place like this to live.

I took a picture of the wooden ceiling too so that you could see it. This kind of ceiling isn't seen very often, and I like it. (It doesn't need to be painted!)

Thank you, Dad/ Gracias, papá

Una bendición de tener un papá como el mío que pintaba y trabajaba en construcción es poder aprender a pintar. Varias veces mi papá nos llevaba a mí y a mi hermano T para ayudarlo a terminar un proyecto en la casa de un cliente suyo. Me gustaba poder aprender al lado de mi papá. No pretendo ser experta porque no soy, pero estoy muy agradecida por mi papá y por la enseñanza que me daba y me sigue dando. Te quiero, papá.

One blessing of having a father who was a "handyman" is learning how to paint. Several times my dad took my brother T and me to help him finish a project in one of his customers' houses. I enjoyed being able to learn with my dad. I do not claim to be an expert because I'm not, but I am very thankful for my dad and for the instruction he gave and continues to give. I love you, Dad.

12 Days Old/12 días de edad

Hoy tuve otro día libre del trabajo, así que aproveché para visitar a G y P. G y yo visitamos un rato, y luego yo cuidé a P después que G se acostó a descansar. P es un bebé muy contento. Sólo llora de hambre y cuando se le cambia la ropa. P tenía algo de catarro y congestión esta semana, pero, gracias a Dios, parece que ya se está recuperando.

Today I had another day off work, and so I took advantage of the opportunity to visit G and P. G and I visited for a while, and then I watched P while G laid down to rest. P is a very content baby. He only cries when he's hungry and when his clothes are changed. P had somewhat of a cold and congestion this week, but, thankfully, he seems to be recovering now.

First Visit to Grandma and Grandpa and titi's house/ La primera visita a la casa de los abuelos y de titi

L, G y P pasaron su primera noche fuera del hospital en nuestra casa. Estaban en camino a su casa, pero G se dio cuenta de que dejó su cartera en el hospital y, además, el carro les estaba dando problemas. ¡Así es que...nosotros tuvimos el privilegio de hospedarlos aquí! (Gracias a Dios, su carro está funcionando mejor hoy y ya deben estar en casa y empezando la vida como una pequeña familia.)

L, G y P spent their first night out of the hospital in our house. They were on their way to their own home, but G realized that she left her purse in the hospital and, furthermore, the car was giving them some trouble. So...we had the privilege of having them here with us! (Thankfully, their car seems to be running better today, and, by now, they should already be home and starting life as a little family.)

L y G ya son muy buenos padres. Se ven muy tranquilos y contentos. G está recuperándose muy bien y L ya es experto en cambiar pañales. Me quedo impresionada y espero que algún día, si el Señor permite, yo pudiera ser tan buena mamá como G ya es.

L and G are already very good parents. They look so calm and content. G is recovering well, and L is already an expert at changing diapers. I am continually amazed and impressed and hope that some day, Lord willing, I could be as good a mom as G already is.

En cuanto a P, él es hermoso, y mi mamá y yo tuvimos el privilegio de cogerlo por dos o tres horas mientras que sus papás estaban descansando. (Estaban despiertos toda la noche.)

As for P, he is beautiful, and my mom and I had the privilege of holding him for two or three hours while his mommy and daddy were resting. (They were up all night.)

Mi sobrino/ My nephew

Anoche, el 3 de abril, mi hermana G dio a luz a un hijo "P". P pesaba 8 libras con 6 onzas y medía 21 pulgadas.

G y L están muy felices y muy orgullosos de su bebecito. Sin embargo, los dos están muy cansados (y el bebé también), y L está algo enfermo así que apreciarían sus oraciones.

Estas fotos son de mi hermana, de su esposo, del bebé, de mí, y de los padres de L.

Last night, April 3, my sister G gave birth to a son "P." P weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. and measured 21 inches.

G and L are very happy and very proud of their little baby. However, they are both very tired (and the baby too), and L is not feeling well, so they would appreciate your prayers.
