Wedding News

The biggest news here is that, as of yesterday, my sister G is the new Mrs. L!

For the past few days I have been in the States to visit my family and attend my sister's wedding. I have been amazed to see how God has provided and how the whole extended family has come together to make this wedding special. On Friday morning, we went to the church to decorate and prepare food for the reception. It was cute to see my mom with her five sisters and a niece all washing, dicing, chopping and cooking. It was also fun for us three sisters (A, G and I) to work on setting tables, hanging tulle, tying ribbons and making favors. G made her own flower arrangements and bouquets. They turned out beautifully, and an aunt commented that G is very talented.

Other blessings come with having a large extended family. An aunt made G's wedding cake, the same aunt and an uncle oversaw the reception, another aunt made G's gown, a cousin took the wedding pictures, another cousin played the Wedding March and other wedding music, many aunts and cousins pitched in to provide the food, and probably many other family members helped in ways that I'm not aware of.

I think that the most special of all was G and L's testimony--perhaps even more outstanding because of their youth (17 and 18). They determined to live for the glory of the Lord and chose a high standard of purity. Until the moment they were pronounced man and wife, G and L had committed themselves not to touch each other, not even to hold hands. I can't describe how beautiful and powerful it was to witness their first kiss, first time holding hands, and first embrace as husband and wife. They set a very high standard for the brothers and sisters who may follow them in marriage someday! G and L truly lived and exemplified 1 Tim. 4:12.
