Last Saturday we had the privilege of participating in a very special church event. We wanted to make ourselves known to the community and also be able to present the gospel. We served a lunch of barbecued chicken (prepared by a young man from a local company, which is famous for its chicken, and prepared in the very front lawn of the church near the the road so that passersby would come to eat).

It was a blessing to see the participation of so many church members. I had no idea it was going to be so big! Some of my cousins, who own a party tent business, put up an enormous tent in the church's back parking lot as well as some smaller tents and three bounce houses for the kids. Several ladies, including my mom, served the food to those who came, and, before the event began, my mom hung a lot of dryer sheets to control the bees. Other people cleaned, took out the trash, sold tickets, made snowcones and cotton candy, handled the sound system and music, blew up balloons, and--I'm sure--did many other things.

The best thing of all was that we could present Jesus Christ through this event. More than one hundred people came who were not from the church. Some people bought the food and left while others stayed to eat, but each person at least received a tract and some information about the church. Also, once an hour for about five minutes my dad presented a short message to those who were there about Jesus Christ and how they could know Him as their Savior. Another exciting thing was that the church is starting an evangelistic website, Jesuscares4u.com, which we were trying to promote through this event. The church ordered balloons with the website written on them, and one brother in Christ drew a big sign with the website on it.
